Gnod’s Music-Map

I found Gnod’s Music-Map the other day while wandering around the web.  The creator Marek Gibney describes it as “a search-engine to find things you don’t know about.”  That is an apt description.

Music-Map allows you to browse artists and bands using an interesting gravitational interface that recommends different musical acts based on a database of past user preferences.  You enter a band/composer/musician that you like and it then creates a solar system of acts that you might also enjoy.  It’s a great way to discover new music.  Every style of music is there – pop, rock, classical, jazz, country, noise, rap, experimental, you name it.  A fantastic resource.  Check it out!!

Gnod is my experiment in the field of artificial intelligence.  It’s a self-adapting system, living on this server and ‘talking’ to everyone who comes along.  Gnods intention is to learn about the outer world and to learn by ‘understanding’ its visitors.  This enables Gnod to share all its wisdom with you in an intuitive and efficient way.  You might call it a search-engine to find things you don’t know about.
