Obscure Music: Igor Stravinsky

Today’s Obscure Music selection is The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky.  It premiered in April of 1913 to much uproar including a riot on opening night.  We’re trying to listen to some music outside our orbit, both to help inspire new ideas and to clear the mind of all the work we’ve been doing in our normal musical lives.  (Unless you are a orchestral bassist.  Then you might want to listen to some Charles Mingus to clear out the Stravinsky).

Let’s use another video with the amazing music animation applied to it.  The music itself is visualized using a program called The Music Animation Machine.  Check it out.
